Six Foundations for a Lasting Relationship

Is this for you?

You and your partner value your relationship and want it  to last.  You are both willing become more vulnerable and honest and examine the places that get you stuck.  You want a sense of collaboration in which there is space for both autonomy and closeness.   You are ready to learn more about the subtle aspects of relationship dynamics and incorporate this knowledge into practice in your relationship.

What to Expect

In this series you’ll have the opportunity to get the support and practice you need. You will learn new ways of being with each other.  You will be able to view your relationship from different aspects and see more clearly how you get disconnected or caught in disconnecting relationship dynamics.  

For most exercises in the series you will be working exclusively with your partner.  You will not need to share any details of your relationship with the group.  There will be time in the whole group for debrief and questions at the end of each exercise.  While information will be presented, the majority of your time will be spent reflecting, learning, and practicing with your partner.  Exercises are created to meet a variety of learning and relational styles.

Series outline:
Attachment &  Security

  1. Gain an understanding of attachment theory and how it impacts your relationship

  2. Learn how to relate from a secure place in yourself


Autonomy & Differentiation

  1. Cheerlead your partner’s autonomy while trusting in your connection

  2. Learn to embraces differences as a source of aliveness rather than a threat

  3. Create and set boundaries / agreements


Healing & Reactivity

  1. Cultivate skills in self-soothing

  2. Learn to anchor in a grounded expansive perspective when reactivity comes up

  3. Integrate a new inner model for relationship


Communicating from the heart

  1. Provide a safe space for vulnerability

  2. Create more access to your heart and your deepest longings


Affection & Appreciation

  1. What is true appreciation?

  2. What does it mean to see and appreciate your partner?

  3. How does affection get lost and found again?  What barriers keep you from receiving the appreciation and affection that's offered?



  1. Support each other in what truly creates a satisfying life.  Create a shared vision.

  2. Reclaim exiled needs and needs associated with shame
